Terms of Service
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Welcome to Fihrist ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Fihrist website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service") available at https://fihrist.ai.
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Accounts
To access certain features, you must register for an account. Sign-in is passwordless: you authenticate with your Google account or with a one-time sign-in link we email to you. We never ask you to create or share a password for the Service.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- Maintain and promptly update your account information.
- Keep the email account and Google account you sign in with secure — anyone with access to them can access your Fihrist account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
Notify us immediately at hello@fihrist.ai if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Plans, Free Tier, and Paid Subscriptions
Fihrist offers a free tier as well as paid subscription plans.
- Free tier: Provided at no cost and may have limited features, usage caps, or other restrictions (for example, limits on the number of channels and hours of content indexed, as described on the Pricing page). We may modify or discontinue the free tier at any time.
- Paid plans: Provide access to additional features as described on our Pricing page. Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected).
Affiliate links and the free tier. Where the Service generates outbound purchase links for books or products mentioned in your content, the affiliate tags used depend on your plan: on the free tier, links carry our affiliate tags and any resulting commission is ours — this is part of how free hosting is funded. On paid plans, links use your own affiliate tags and you keep 100% of resulting commissions (where you have configured tags; we do not place our tags on a paid plan's pages). Affiliate links are search-based suggestions to retailers; we do not guarantee their accuracy, availability, or any commission amounts, which are governed by the relevant affiliate network's terms.
The embeddable search widget and the public API are features of paid plans and are subject to fair-use rate limits. You may not circumvent plan gates or rate limits.
We reserve the right to change the features included in any plan, and to introduce, modify, or discontinue plans, with reasonable notice where required.
4. Billing and Payment
4.1 Payment Processor / Merchant of Record
Our order process and payments are conducted by our online reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com ("Paddle"). Paddle is the merchant of record for all orders placed through the Service. Paddle provides customer service inquiries and handles returns and billing questions in connection with your purchase. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Conditions.
4.2 Recurring Billing
By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize Paddle to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) until you cancel. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle at the then-current rate unless cancelled before the renewal date.
4.3 Taxes
Prices may be exclusive of applicable taxes (such as VAT or sales tax), which will be calculated and collected by Paddle based on your location and applied at checkout as required by law.
4.4 Price Changes
We may change our prices from time to time. Any price change will apply to billing cycles after the change takes effect, and we will provide reasonable advance notice.
5. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting hello@fihrist.ai.
All payments are non-refundable. When you cancel, your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period, after which it will not renew and you will not be charged again. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused time, or features not used.
This policy is described in more detail in our Refund Policy. Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under mandatory applicable consumer protection laws.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except as permitted by law.
- Use the Service to transmit malware, spam, or harmful content.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service in a manner that violates these Terms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Fihrist or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your internal purposes.
8. Your Catalog, Authorization, and Indexing
The core of the Service is indexing a creator's published catalog — the videos and podcast episodes at the sources you connect (for example, a YouTube channel or an RSS feed) — into searchable transcripts, timestamped "moments," and an index of the books, tools, people, and products mentioned.
8.1 Sources you connect
We only index sources you explicitly submit. Before indexing begins, we ask you to verify that you control the submitted source, and we may decline or remove any source whose control we cannot verify.
8.2 Your authorization warranty
By connecting a source, you represent and warrant that you own the content at that source or are authorized by its owner to index it, and you accept an authorization statement at onboarding. We record that consent — the exact statement text and version you agreed to, the source URL, and technical metadata such as IP address and browser — as the rights trail for your catalog. If you are not authorized to index a source, do not connect it.
8.3 License you grant us
You retain all ownership of your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to fetch, host, store, transcribe, analyze, index, excerpt, and display your connected content solely as necessary to provide the Service — your hosted search page, your mentions index, and (per plan) the embeddable widget, the API, and your custom domain — and to improve the Service. This license ends for content that is removed under Section 9, except for the limited retention described in our Privacy Policy.
8.4 Machine-generated results, provenance, and neutrality
Transcripts, moments, and mention extractions are generated by automated systems (including AI models) from your content. Every extracted mention is tied to a quoted excerpt and timestamp from your own words, and we design the extraction conservatively — but automated transcription and extraction can contain errors, and we do not warrant their completeness or accuracy. The Service presents what was said and where, with citations; it does not speak in your voice, and no feature impersonates you. Report inaccuracies to hello@fihrist.ai and we will correct or remove them.
8.5 Third-party platform terms
Your content remains subject to the terms of the platforms where it is published (for example, YouTube's Terms of Service). You are responsible for ensuring that connecting a source does not violate those terms.
9. Content Removal and Takedown
Creators: you may remove a channel at any time from your dashboard, or ask us to delete your catalog or account at any time by contacting hello@fihrist.ai. Removal is never delayed or conditional.
When you remove a channel, its hosted search page, moments, and mentions come down immediately. The underlying data stays recoverable for 7 days so that an accidental removal can be undone — contact us within that window and we will restore it. After 7 days we delete the content permanently and completely, including transcripts, search embeddings, extracted mentions, and caches. Residual copies in encrypted backups are deleted as those backups expire on rotation.
Re-indexing a removed source. Indexing a catalog has a real cost to us, so a source that was removed after consuming indexing time cannot be re-added immediately. On free plans that source becomes available again after 30 days; on paid plans it becomes available at the start of your next billing period. This restriction never applies to a removal that consumed no indexing time — for example a channel removed shortly after it was added, or one that never completed verification — so correcting a mistake costs you nothing. It restricts only re-indexing; it never restricts removal, and it never affects your ability to delete your data. If a removal was a mistake, contact hello@fihrist.ai and we will lift the restriction.
Rights holders: if you believe content has been indexed on the Service without authorization, email hello@fihrist.ai with (a) the address of the page on our Service, (b) the original content it corresponds to, and (c) a description of your rights and a statement, made in good faith, that the indexing is unauthorized. We will investigate and, where the claim is substantiated, remove the content as described above. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly index content they are not authorized to index.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any defects will be corrected.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Fihrist AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fihrist and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and discontinuing use of the Service.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Egypt, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
